Top 5 ways Office 365 connects me to my colleagues and company

Companies are getting ahead by embracing the Office 365 suite, entering into the new world of increased productivity and collaboration

Working from home

By Jessica Dineen, Inside Account Manager.

I’m writing this blog from the comfort of my home office. A steaming cup of coffee next to me and fluffy slippers warming my toes. Tomorrow I might be working on the train or visiting a client. I love being mobile and it seems it’s not just me. One in seven people now work from home (ONS, 2015), and a further 1.8 million people would work from home given the option. Many organisations have already realised that they can entice talented staff by embracing a flexible approach to work.

The core challenge of having a mobile workforce is ensuring that they are properly equipped to flourish in this new environment. It is no surprise, therefore, that 70% of Fortune 500 companies have purchased Office 365 in the last 12 months (Microsoft, 2014), as it is a technology that greatly assists a mobile workforce. These companies are choosing to get ahead by embracing the full Office 365 suite, entering into the new world of increased productivity and collaboration.

People like me can share new ideas, opinions and even documents while on the move. We might not be physically in the office but we are just as connected as ever. In fact, we might even be more connected than before. Here are my top 5 ways that Office 365 connects me to my colleagues and company.

1. Access anywhere:
as long as I have an internet connection I can access all my data and documents anywhere, on any device, around the world. This comes in handy!

2. Familiar Microsoft Office look and feel:
from day one it’s been simple and easy to use. It’s great having an interface that’s logical and familiar.

3. Reliability:
Microsoft guarantees 99.9% uptime. It’s always worked for me.

4. My personality shines through at work, even though I’m not physically present:
with tools such as Yammer I can express myself, congratulate colleagues and share ideas. Having a social network for business allows me to tap into the skills and knowledge of our talent base, no matter where they are located. Instant messaging and video calls with Skype for Business means I’m always connected to my colleagues wherever I am.

5. My email is smarter than me:
Exchange is hosted. No matter what unfortunate events come my way I know my email is safe in the cloud. It also has the smartest calendar, ensuring I never get double-booked by syncing up in real-time.

Office 365 enables me to work from home, and gives me the tools I need to communicate effectively and optimise my productivity.
